Karma and the Threefold Rule

Karma and the Threefold Rule

I am a firm believer in Karma and the Threefold Rule. I truly believe that bad things will happen to people who are not nice, and that is just the light side of it. I used to get really upset at people who are rude, (and sometimes I still do) but to calm myself, I just remind myself that they will get their just deserves. It may not be for a long time, but people who are mean and rude are never happy. Unfortunately, they do not understand why they are so unhappy, but I believe it is because of their Karma. If they would just take a moment and try to do something good, try to be pleasant to someone, they may even surprise themselves with the results.

"Intent without action is worthless, and action without intent is worse than useless - it can be harmful. When our actions are true expressions of our intentions - our wills - we are doing magic.

"The Rule of Three illustrates the power underlying our intentions. Everything we do is returned to us threefold. ...Our actions determine the response life takes to us. ...Every good deed we do, every helping hand we lend, and every time we act responsibly, we improve our society by fostering an environment in which positive actions begin to outnumber negative ones."

[From Jim Garrison, The Law of Threefold Return.]

There are so many things that can make my day a little brighter by making someone else's day brighter. I will always remember the first time I waved at this old man I saw going down the street near my house in Germany. He smiled and waved back. Even though if we ever had the chance to sit down together, we probably wouldn't understand a word the other was saying, every time we saw each other, we would wave and smile. I could be having the worse day ever, and I would see him, wave and smile, and suddenly the sun would be brighter, the sky would be clearer, and I would just smile. I hope that I may have had the same effect on him. I will never know his name, and now that we moved, I will never see him again, but for a brief moment in time, I like to think that we touched each other's lives and hearts.

To me, that almost goes along with the Random Acts of Kindness that can be found all over the web. I mean, sometimes just reading the stories can lift your heart. Some stories may be exaggerated or fabricated, but someone thought of them, and they still hold a lot of power.

A song that still brings tears to my eyes is Chain of Love - by Clay Walker. It is a beautiful ballad about a young man who helps a lady but asks for nothing in return, just for her to continue the "chain of love". She does and eventually it gets right back to the man, Joe, who started the chain that day. In my mind, that is an excellent example of good Karma and the goodness being returned times three.

This has been a fascinating topic to write upon. I researched other ideas of Karma and the Threefold Rule on the Net. I found one source of info about the The Three-Fold Law of Return and the magical side of it. I steadfastly believe that the rule isn't just for ritual use. I believe that is something that affects day-to-day business and personal life. It is something to live by, whether at home, work or ritual.
