June Collab

Topic #1: Books (with thanks to Nesaia!) Since Paganism doesn't have one singular "Bible," much of our teaching comes from a variety of different sources. What are some books that have been particularly helpful in helping you on your spiritual journey? What books have been a waste of paper? Discuss some of your favorite books or quotes and why they were helpful, or books that weren't helpful at all. Ohhhh this is going to be FUN!!!!

I have two words for you. The best author is Scott Cunningham
It was quite a loss when he died…

Anyway, I read all kinds of books. I don’t feel that there are too many that are a “waste of paper” but not because of their content. Everyone has a right to express their opinions and thoughts, and it is just natural that not everyone will agree with them. I could never slam a book and say that it was a waste. It may not be a book *I * am interested in, but SOMEONE may enjoy the book. If nothing else, someone wanted to share their thoughts and/or knowledge.

I keep copies of Cunningham’s “Living Wicca”, and “Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner”, nearby at all times. I have used those more times than I can imagine. I have shared those books with others to introduce them to Wicca or to just explain it a little more. I think I have bought at least 3-4 copies of each. (Sadly, I bought doubles of the same one recently, after giving away my own copy.. The covers were different, so I thought I was buying one of each. I guess I wasn’t really awake that day!)

Margot Adler’s “Drawing Down the Moon” has some good aspects. It is not a book I can read from cover to cover, but it was the first Wiccan book I ever bought!

“Moon Magick” by DJ Conway is another book that I have used numerous times. It is the moon that I worship the most and this book is perfect for various rituals.

Another moon worship book that I like is “Lady of the Night” by Edain McCoy.

As is typical for me, I don’t use things exactly as the books say. I tend to modify to make them fit what I am looking for. These books are just references, they are never used in their entirety.

Even “Embracing the Moon” by Yasmine Galenorn has had some good bits and pieces.

This is not, by far, the end of my collection. These are just my most used books, and even then, I may be forgetting some.

Brightest Blessings!
